Sandra asked

… I would like to know what to do with items that are used for vehicles IE: cleaning products that would freeze, cans of spray paint, gallon paint containers. Things that you don’t think belong in the house but living in Michigan they would freeze if out in the barn/shed.

So here goes … We live in a 2 bedroom apartment, we do however have a private, semi heated garage so the items kept in my car are safe from the elements.  We don’t use the garage for our utility storage, we (my husband & I) prefer to have tools, cleaners, paints, etc. easily accessible, therefore, we have to find space in our home for them … this is what we do.

Hidden storage … lovely little vignette by day

… hiding inside …

We are also lucky enough to have a double deep front hall closet.  When we moved  in there was one shelf and two rods … I removed everything and installed an elfa system along the backwall.

Again, coat closet by day …

Utility closet in hiding …

Think outside, or in this case inside, the box.  Thrift store, tag sales, etc.  Foot lockers, tools boxes, hat boxes, picnic baskets … Good luck!
